Crunchy Clean Laundry Detergent

I love laundry! Really, I do! And thanks to a fellow laundry-loving friend, I was introduced to Crunchy Clean Laundry Detergent.

Crunchy Clean is all natural and environmental friendly. It is a no-suds detergent that won't build up in your machine and is HE compatible. There are two different formulas available: a diaper detergent and an everyday detergent. Both are available in TONS of fabulous scents or unscented!

I received two samples of the everyday detergent. Thankfully these samples arrived at my house on laundry day so I put them straight to work! (Although, on a side note, when is it not laundry day?)

I will be honest and confess that I used the regular detergent on my diapers before checking out the website and reading that there is a separate diaper detergent available. According to the website, "the regular detergent has soap in it to give it the extra "OOMPH" of cleaning tough stains as well as a few other ingredients that help with inorganic stains and dirt. The diaper detergent has safe ingredients for diapers (NO SOAP, ENZYMES OR BORAX) that are really great on organic waste and cleaning your diapers." My diapers came out fine after one washing in the regular detergent, but in the future I will definitely be ordering the diaper detergent! The diaper detergent can be used for all laundry, but may require some pre-treating of inorganic stains.

I was really pleased with my Crunchy Clean experience! All of my laundry, clothes and diapers, came out smelling so fresh and clean. I received two different scents, both of with were divine. I found that the first scent I tried, lavender vanilla, left a very faint lingering smell on my clothes. It wasn't bad and really only noticeable to my husband. The second scent, clothespin, left absolutely no traces of scent. If you are sensitive to fragrances like my hubby, you may want to try the unscented version.

As a stain fighter, I found it to be comparable to other natural laundry detergents. I have my own tricks for fighting stains and I have yet to find a better stain fighter than the SUN!

Overall, I am very pleased with my Crunchy Clean results and will definitely be using Crunchy Clean again in future!

Tips for Traveling with Cloth Diapers

I currently have two children in diapers. One is 2 1/2 and hopefully on her way to potty training soon. The other is just a few months old. I have discovered that their diapering needs are very different! (I know, duh!)

Prior to the birth of my son, whenever we travelled I switched EJ over to disposables. I just figured it was easier than trying to do laundry while on vacation. When my son was born, I decided to try give cloth on the road a try. We were going to my mother's house for a week and so I knew that laundry would not be an issue. I learned a few things on that trip.

#1. Less is more! I packed about 36 diapers for my kids for that week. That was too much. We don't generally use 36 between washings at home so I don't know why I thought that would be necessary on the road!
2. A few days without the sun is not going to ruin your diapers. I packed my portable clothes line for this particular trip but never actually took it out of the car. We came home with a few stains, but they sunned out just fine despite the wait!
3. A few days in disposables is not going to ruin your child! While traveling with cloth isn't as difficult as I expected it to be, it also isn't always the best option. So if you choose to switch while on vacation, don't sweat it!
4. If you do decide to use disposables while traveling to save space or for convenience, be sure to pack a change of clothes in the diaper bag, even if you normally don't. Because otherwise when your baby has a blowout mid-flight, he may have to spend the rest of the trip wearing nothing but a diaper. Trust me, that is one mile-high club you don't want to join!

hazelaid

Hazelaid is a family company that specializes in hazelwood jewelry. I first discovered Hazelaid while scouring the internet looking for a natural remedy for my son's teething symptoms.
Hazelwood necklaces were originally used by Native Americans to help alleviate their babies' teething pains. These necklaces made with pieces of wood from the hazelnut tree have the unique property of absorbing the excess acid produced in our bodies when it is in contact with our skin. Much of the pain associated with teething is a result of excess acid production which is why these necklaces are able to dramatically relieve not only teething pain, but also help clear up eczema and reduce acid reflux! Both of those conditions (as well as others) often find their root cause to be excess acidity.
Since my son was also suffering from eczema, I knew that hazelwood was something we had to try! I ordered one of the 11" necklaces and he started wearing it day and night. After about 2 weeks, I still hadn't noticed any reduction in his teething symptoms. He was still drooling like crazy, biting and chewing on anything and everything. What I did notice was that his eczema was completely cleared up! He went from having scaly, red patches all over his face, head and trunk to having clear, smooth baby skin. I am thrilled by the difference.
After about 6 weeks of wearing the necklace, I noticed the eczema starting to come back. When I ask Severine (from Hazelaid) about this, she told me that while it is uncommon, it is possible for a first necklace to become saturated much faster than average but that subsequent necklaces will last longer. The theory is that the first necklace had to absorb all the acid that had collected in his body up to that point in his life, whereas the subsequent necklaces simply had to absorb the current levels of acidity which enables them to last longer.
The necklaces are not just for children, they are really for the whole family. They help teenagers and adults relieve or prevent ailments such as migraines, acid reflux, heart burn, nausea, arthritis, skin problems etc. There are no known allergy issues to this product because it is made with the hazelwood branch, not the nut.

Therefore, if you suffer from…
* Rheumatism, arthritis, osteoporosis
* Dental cavities, gum bleeding
* Acid reflux, heart burn, ulcers, constipation
* Cracking at the corners of your mouth
* Skin problems such as acne, cold sores, eczema
* Sinus problems
* Ear infections
* Bronchitis
* Headaches and migraines
* Anal itching or burning
* Sciatic nerve pains
* Muscular pain
* Lack of energy, fatigue, depression
* Irritability and nervousness
* Sleep problems
.…it is highly probable that you are suffering from an acidity imbalance. And pure hazelwood necklaces may be able to help you alleviate these symptoms in a natural way.
